Living Hope

Living Hope is a popular worship song, written by Phil Wickham and Brian Johnson. The verses speak of the chasm that separates God and man, and that the only hope to bridge that gap is Jesus Christ. Intermingled with the song and original material are fragments of the hymn, “My hope is built on nothing less.”

After a contemplative setting of the song, the piece builds to the climax, reflecting the triumphant lyrics of the 3rd verse and chorus:

Then came the morning that sealed the promise,
Your buried body began to breathe.
Out of the silence, the Roaring Lion
Declared the grave has no claim on me.
Jesus, Yours is the victory!

Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free!
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me!
