Jesus Paid It All
(American Band Journal No. 146)
Brian Bowen
This comparatively simple, meditative treatment of an old favorite gospel song may be useful on a variety of occasions. The theme of salvation, purchased on Calvary by Jesus our Savior, is central to our faith.
The melody by John T. Grape (1835-1915) and the words, which today sound somewhat aged, are by Elvina M. Hall (1820-189).
1. I hear the Savior say
“Thy strength indeed is small. Child of weakness, watch and pray, Find in me thine all in all.”
Chorus:
Jesus paid it all,
All to him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.
3. For nothing good have I Whereby thy grace to claim—I’ll wash my garments white In the blood of Calvary’s lamb.
4. And when before the throne, I stand in him complete,
“Jesus died my soul to save”, My lips shall still repeat.
