Living Power is dedicated to Dr. Jonathan Corry, a Salvation Army bandmaster now based in Chicago, USA. He had asked for a short work as a parting gift from him to his band, Enfield Citadel. Timothy Dudley-Smith’s, Lord, for the Years is the core of this work. The title is taken from the inspirational final verse:

Lord for ourselves; in living power remake us –
Self on the cross and Christ upon the throne,
Past put behind us, for the future take us:
Lord of our lives, to live for Christ alone.

The premiere performance was given by Enfield Citadel Band at their annual prequel concert to the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain in 2016.
