All Hail King Jesus was written as the finale for the New York Staff Band’s King of Kings program. The opening begins from a place of stillness as the opening verses of Luke 24 unfold, building toward the proclamation at the empty tomb and erupting into excitement and praise with the words: He is not here, He has risen!
The middle section presents the full song, reflecting on the depth of the words:

There was a moment when the lights went out
When death had claimed its victory
The King of Love had given up His life
The darkest day in history
There on a cross they made for sinners
For every curse His blood atoned
One final breath and it was finished
But not the end we could have known

As the final section begins, the energy and excitement returns, featuring subtle quotes to the song “Agnus Dei” the music builds into a final proclamation of “All Hail King Jesus”. With the final statement from the band - All hail the Savior of the world.
