We are very pleased to present the latest Christmas edition of the American Band Journal. The Christmas season continues to be one of the most meaningful times of the year for music ministry, as we share the timeless story of Jesus’ birth through the powerful medium of brass band music. The selections in this issue will help convey that message of hope and joy, drawing both players and listeners into the true spirit of Christmas.
This 2026 Christmas edition features four outstanding works from a diverse group of composers and arrangers. Opening the journal is A Great and Mighty Wonder by Andrew Wainwright, a vibrant and celebratory setting of this classic carol that sets the tone perfectly for the season. Following this is a beautiful arrangement of Sweet Little Jesus Boy by Robert MacGimsey, arranged by Gavin Whitehouse. Its soulful simplicity and rich scoring make it a deeply moving addition to any Christmas program.
Next, Christmas Reflection – For Unto Us, arranged by Edward Mylechreest, brings new life and warmth to Handel’s beloved chorus from The Messiah, offering both energy and reverence in equal measure. Concluding this edition is Christmas Chimes by Sam Creamer, marking his first published contribution to the American Band Journal. True to his signature style, this joyful work sparkles with rhythmic vitality and festive charm—an ideal closer for any Christmas concert.
We are once again delighted with the standard of music presented in this edition and confident that these pieces will be a blessing to performers and audiences alike. May this collection inspire your ministry and help you share the wonder of Christ’s birth through music that uplifts, celebrates, and proclaims the good news of the season.
